Ethereum's combined Layer 2 ecosystem has achieved a historic milestone, processing more daily transactions than the Visa payment network for the first time ever.

The Numbers

Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and zkSync collectively processed 312 million transactions in a single day, surpassing Visa's typical daily volume of 280 million. Transaction fees averaged just $0.002 per transaction.

What This Means

This milestone validates Ethereum's scaling roadmap and challenges the narrative that blockchain cannot handle mainstream payment volumes. Coinbase's Base chain alone accounted for 40% of the L2 volume.
